Who leads the private military company Black Swans?
Get the full story of SAS: Red Notice with a detailed plot summary. Dive into its themes, characters, and the twists that make it a must-watch.
Black Swans is a gripping tale centered around a family-operated private military firm, spearheaded by the American duo of William Lewis (played by Tom Wilkinson) and his adult children, Grace Lewis (portrayed by Ruby Rose) and Oliver Lewis (depicted by Owain Yeoman). As the most adept member of the family, Grace is poised to inherit the reins of the company.
Their saga begins when they are enlisted by SAS commander George Clements (Andy Serkis) to facilitate the clearance of a transnational gas pipeline through a secluded village situated in the fictitious Gveli Pass in Georgia. While Clements attempts to bribe the villagers to evacuate peacefully, resistance leads to devastating consequences—a massacre where Grace makes the chilling decision to eliminate all men and boys, leaving the women behind to instill lasting terror. In a shocking climax, Grace ignites the village in flames.
The dark deeds of the Black Swans do not go unnoticed; a young girl captures their heinous acts on film, leading to their indictment for crimes against humanity. The International Criminal Court demands the extradition of the accused from the UK to the Hague for trial, revealing the extent of their transgressions. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Atwood (Ray Panthaki), whose machinations are at play, realizes that if William testifies, he will likely expose Clements’ connection to their operations, leading to Atwood’s downfall. To sidestep this threat, Atwood clandestinely instructs Clements to assassinate William instead of arresting him.
Fully aware of the impending SAS operation against them, William refuses to flee his homeland. The SAS launches a brutal raid, resulting in the deaths of many Black Swan operatives, including Olivia (Caroline Boulton). In a tense moment, William is shot at point-blank range by Clements, but Grace narrowly escapes their clutches.
SAS operator Tom Buckingham (played by Sam Heughan), who had been present during the raid, takes his partner, Dr. Sophie Hart (Hannah John-Kamen), on a romantic train journey from London to Paris where he plans to propose with a remarkable heirloom ring. However, their trip takes a perilous turn when the remnants of Black Swans, under Grace’s command, hijack their train while traveling through the Channel Tunnel, taking all passengers hostage at gunpoint.
As Tom summons his friend Sgt. Declan Smith (Tom Hopper), a member of the SAS, he soon realizes that they are compromised when Major Bisset (Noel Clarke), who is in cahoots with Grace, betrays their movements to her. Grace seizes control of the train, halting it in the tunnel while ensuring they disable all surveillance. Oliver arrives with support from emergency vehicles.
While Tom manages to escape and traps the assailants in a service tunnel, the atmosphere grows increasingly volatile as Grace detonates explosives, causing mayhem, scattering passengers, and evoking panic. The SAS is assembled on the opposite side of sealed tunnel doors, taking urgent action against the Black Swans. Tom struggles to rescue Sophie, who refuses to abandon the hostages, leveraging her medical expertise to assist the injured.
In a fierce showdown, the SAS launches an assault from the rear of the train, but a counterattack from Oliver forces them to retreat. All the while, Grace is calling for $500 million from the gas company that employed the SAS, revealing her deep-rooted intentions. Tension escalates as she suspects Sophie has been communicating with Tom during the chaos.
Navigating the deadly situation, Tom learns of explosives being set on the gas pipeline and alerts Declan, only to discover that he is the mole feeding Grace information. The stakes keep rising as Grace uses Sophie’s phone to bait Tom into a trap, leading to a brutal confrontation that results in Oliver being shot. Grace successfully negotiates the ransom, but not without uploading a video of their confessions to social media, implicating the UK’s Prime Minister.
As chaos reigns, Grace makes her escape through the gas pipeline, narrowly evading capture by Tom, who trails her. The stakes peak with an explosion that destroys the tunnel infrastructure, after which Grace faces Tom in a climactic struggle. Ultimately, Tom defeats Grace, while Declan escapes and becomes privy to the ransom details. In a bittersweet conclusion, Tom and Sophie find solace in their union, marrying in Spain amidst the remnants of their harrowing ordeal.
