Deadpool Movie Quiz: Test your knowledge about the outrageous superhero film 'Deadpool' from 2016.

What is Deadpool's real name?

Plot Summary

As Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) perches atop a bridge, he takes a moment to break the fourth wall and regale viewers with a humorous anecdote about his supposed fondling of Wolverine’s, ahem, private area. Satisfied with his own wit, he then focuses on his mission, spotting a convoy of vans arriving at the scene. With lightning-quick reflexes, Deadpool leaps into one of the vehicles and proceeds to dispatch the thugs within, causing a chaotic crash that claims the lives of several nefarious villains.

But this is no ordinary battle; Deadpool’s true target is none other than Ajax (Ed Skrein), the individual responsible for bestowing his powers upon him while also leaving him grotesquely disfigured. As the vans come to rest at the bridge’s edge, a gruesome tableau unfolds: one thug’s head is severed by a chain, and another meets their demise in a gruesome splattering against a highway sign.

Meanwhile, back at Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters, Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) is shocked into action upon witnessing the carnage on television news. He hastily dials Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), pleading with her to join him in a quest to apprehend Deadpool.

Back at the bridge, our merciful anti-hero finds himself woefully unprepared, having forgotten his arsenal and left with only 12 rounds in his firearm. As he methodically dispatches each thug, he becomes increasingly flustered, accidentally missing a few shots along the way. However, he redeems himself by taking out three men with a single bullet – a feat that would be impossible for any ordinary mortal.

As the last of his foes falls to his blade, Deadpool pauses to remark on the peculiarity of this superhero movie and its need for a re-telling from his perspective.

A year prior, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) was a ruthless mercenary-for-hire operating in New York City. He accepted a job to intimidate a pizza delivery boy into ceasing his harassing behavior towards a young woman. Upon completing the task, the girl expresses her gratitude and refers to him as her hero – an appellation that Deadpool is quick to dispute.

Following this episode, Wade visits the bar where his friend Weasel (TJ Miller) works, ordering a peculiar cocktail known as the Blowjob. The bartender obliges, but with a twist: he delivers the drink to a large, menacing individual, instructing him that it came from another man – an act of mischief that sparks a barroom brawl. Amidst this chaos, Wade encounters a prostitute named Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), sharing in their mutual experiences of being outsiders before embarking on a tumultuous romantic journey.

As Wade basks in the warmth of his newfound happiness, a crushing blow strikes - he is diagnosed with a multifaceted cancer that ravages his liver, lungs, prostate, and brain. His primary concern shifts from his own mortality to the uncertain fate of Vanessa, his loved one. At the bar, Weasel drops a bombshell, revealing that a mysterious individual in the corner is seeking Wade out. This enigmatic figure, The Recruiter (Jed Rees), represents an organization capable of not only curing Wade’s cancer but also imbuing him with extraordinary abilities. Though initially skeptical, Wade accepts the card offered by The Recruiter, embarking on a journey that will forever alter his trajectory.

In the present, Deadpool finds himself face-to-face with Ajax, who arrives on a motorcycle, prompting our hero to unleash his trusty katana. As Ajax crashes, Deadpool seizes the opportunity to strike, only for his blade to prove ineffective against the mutant’s unyielding physiology. With Ajax momentarily stunned, Deadpool lifts his mask, revealing his battle-scarred visage, and challenges Ajax to recognize him as Wade Wilson. The arrival of Colossus and Negasonic serves as a stark contrast to the chaos that has unfolded, with Colossus expressing disappointment at Deadpool’s destructive antics and attempting to persuade him to join the X-Men - an offer Deadpool resoundingly rejects. As his back is turned, Ajax seizes the opportunity to escape, prompting an enraged Deadpool to unleash a flurry of attacks, resulting in his own self-inflicted injuries. Colossus, unfazed by Deadpool’s mayhem, cuffs him to his wrist, only for our hero to employ his resourcefulness and sever his hand before escaping into a garbage van.

The narrative seamlessly shifts back to the past, where Wade made the fateful decision to prioritize his own cure over Vanessa’s heartache. Abandoning her in the dead of night, he disappears without explanation, leaving her alone and confused. His journey takes him to the mysterious facility, where he encounters Ajax for the first time, accompanied by the formidable Angel Dust (Gina Carano). Ajax reveals that Wade’s cells must be subjected to extreme stress to activate his mutant physiology, setting in motion a chain of events that will forever alter the course of his life.

As Wade’s ordeal reaches its crescendo, Ajax’s sinister motives are revealed - they’re transforming him into a super-servant to be auctioned off like a prized commodity. The revelation sparks a scathing rebuke from Wade, who mercilessly mocks Ajax, exposing the true identity of this erstwhile enforcer as Francis. The taunts prove too much for Ajax, who retaliates by subjecting Wade to a gruesome ordeal involving oxygen deprivation. The consequences are stark: Wade’s skin and face become disfigured, bearing the scars of his torment.

Ajax then presents Wade with a “gift” - news that his cancer has mysteriously vanished. However, this supposed miracle is merely a cruel joke, as Ajax soon reveals his true intentions by leaving Wade to suffocate in a chamber. But Wade refuses to go quietly into the night. Seizing a match lit by Angel (and cleverly stashed away in her mouth), he orchestrates an explosive escape from the laboratory, sending the facility crashing down around him.

As Wade emerges from this inferno, he’s met with the harsh reality of his disfigured reflection. Horrified by his appearance, he dons a hood to shield himself from the outside world. His primary concern: what Vanessa will think if she lays eyes on him in his current state. Thus, he keeps his distance, opting instead to confide in Weasel, who shares his disgust at Wade’s new look.

With Weasel’s encouragement, Wade sets out to create a disguise - a suit and mask that will allow him to blend in with the world once more. He adopts the moniker “Deadpool” and embarks on a quest for vengeance against Ajax, cutting a bloody swathe through his minions until he finally closes in on his quarry.

Meanwhile, Wade has begun to form an unlikely bond with Al (Leslie Uggams), a blind woman who sees beyond his physical appearance. As Deadpool’s crusade reaches its climax, he finds himself torn between his desire for revenge and the growing sense of purpose that comes from being with Al.

The narrative hurtles forward in time, as we find ourselves back at the present moment - Deadpool riding shotgun on a garbage truck, his hand slowly regenerating as he heads home to his new love. But Ajax and Angel are hot on his heels, tracking him down to Weasel’s bar, where they’re met with a hail of bullets from the patrons. The only clue left behind is a photograph of Wade and Vanessa - a poignant reminder of the life he once knew, before the horrors that have befallen him.

As Wade’s frustration reaches a boiling point, he decides to take matters into his own hands and confronts the strip club where Vanessa (Vanessa Carlysle) works, only to be met with trepidation. Stan Lee makes a cameo appearance as a DJ, spinning tracks that seem to fuel Wade’s growing anxiety. Meanwhile, Vanessa is warned by her co-worker about an ex-boyfriend lurking outside, which she initially mistakes for Wade himself - little does she know, it’s actually the sinister Ajax who has taken her away. With his worst fears confirmed, Wade scours the area and finds only Vanessa’s abandoned handbag, leaving him with no choice but to assemble a team of allies to stage a daring rescue.

Infuriated by Vanessa’s disappearance, Wade sets out to gather a motley crew of mutants at the X-Mansion, where he recruits Colossus (Piotr Rasputin) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Robyn Moreau). As they prepare for battle, Wade can’t help but crack jokes about the mansion’s sheer size - or lack thereof. The unlikely trio hails a cab driven by Dopinder, who unwittingly becomes embroiled in their mission when he reveals that he’s kidnapped his own cousin.

As they close in on Ajax’s location, Deadpool (Wade Wilson) is alerted to a distressing discovery: Dopinder has been keeping his cousin captive in the trunk. Though initially feigning horror, Wade can’t help but quietly congratulate Dopinder on his creative transportation solution. The group tracks down Ajax to a scrapyard, where they engage in a chaotic battle against his goons. Deadpool uses his signature wit and martial arts skills to take down the henchmen, while Colossus and Negasonic team up to take on Angel (Francine “Angel” Dust).

As tensions escalate, Deadpool takes great pleasure in mocking Ajax by using the bodies of his defeated minions to spell out Francis’s name - a cruel jab at his nemesis. With Vanessa held captive on an aircraft carrier, Wade seizes the opportunity to confront Ajax directly, their blades clashing in a thrilling duel. Meanwhile, Colossus and Negasonic work together to rescue Angel from certain doom as the carrier begins to collapse. As freight containers rain down from above, Deadpool ensures that Vanessa is safely extracted from the wreckage before the ship meets its demise in a spectacular crash.

As the dust settles from their tumultuous tussle, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) seizes Ajax (Ed Skrein) in a tight grip, gun pressed firmly against the villain’s temple. With a menacing gaze, he demands that Ajax rectify his grotesque visage, only to be met with maniacal laughter and the cruel truth: there is no cure for his disfigured countenance. Faced with the prospect of ending Ajax’s life, Deadpool’s resolve begins to waver until Colossus (Stefan Kapičić) intervenes, launching into a impassioned plea for mercy. As Colossus’ words wear thin, Deadpool’s patience is exhausted, and he delivers a fatal shot to Ajax’s cranium, prompting the behemoth to regurgitate his lunch.

In the aftermath of this brutal confrontation, Deadpool turns his attention to Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), apologizing profusely for abandoning her in her time of need. With trepidation, she removes his mask, only to be met with a disturbing visage - not his own, but rather a makeshift cut-out of Hugh Jackman’s face. Undeterred, she acknowledges the imperfections beneath and vows to adapt to them. As they share a tender kiss, Deadpool signs off on the film, leaving audiences in a state of euphoria.

But the credits haven’t yet rolled when our merc-with-a-mouth reappears, donning his bathrobe and channeling the irreverent spirit of Ferris Bueller, imploring viewers to beat a hasty retreat. However, he soon returns, his expression grave with concern as he warns about the looming threat of Cable’s involvement in a potential sequel. As he walks away, Deadpool’s head reappears, resuming his iconic “Chicka-chicka!” refrain, leaving fans clamoring for more.
